A crane hoist holds, raises, and lowers loads using a wire rope or chain. The hoist is attached to the crane’s I-beam with a hoist/trolley combination or at least a beam clamp.

A crane trolley is the wheeled (push) or geared mechanism that allows the hoist (and its load) to move horizontally along the I-beam.
