Portable Gantry Cranes, Steel, Aluminum, and More!

What's New?

Wallace portable gantry cranes are ideal for maintenance, manufacturing, repairs, and other materials handling tasks. Many customers use our cranes for HVAC, assembly, and repairs of physical plant equipment. Current users include electric utilities, municipal maintenance (including subways, buses, and building facilities), research institutions, and the military for routine scheduled maintenance of aircraft and similar equipment.

In large and small shops, adjustable cranes can go where forklifts often can’t. Too, lighter weight cranes work well where there are floor weight restrictions. With adjustable width tread, Wallace cranes can fit through narrow aisles. With adjustable height or span, a single crane can provide a flexible lifting solution. Using Wallace Kart Kits, the proprietary design allows for quick disassembly and assembly for easy transport within a job site or from site to site.

JIB Cranes (Floor Mounted) or (Wall Mounted).

Jib cranes are typically either floor mounted with a large diameter floor plate and a heavy wall pipe column or wall mounted. These fixed cranes are often used for manufacturing, assembly, or maintenance situations where the parts are brought to the crane.

Why Aluminum?

Industries that place a premium on ease of set-up and ease of transportation may prefer aluminum components. For example in HVAC, Wallace cranes may be moved from job site to job site, which demands easy assembly and set-up without overhead cranes. The small price premium is quickly recovered with the reduced overall set-up time. Even within a single shop, the need to set-up a crane in multiple locations can yield similar costs savings. Shop time and space are limited, and expensive. While mobile, assembled Wallace cranes do not roll through all doorways!

Another reason to choose aluminum may be floor weight restrictions. One customer ordered an aluminum beam so they could lift to the crane's capacity and not exceed the weight restrictions for the second floor.

In locations such as research facilities, there is a new-found "do-it-yourself" mode to cope with staff reductions. aluminum cranes are very popular here. These lighter cranes can be moved easily by the research staff. The aluminum cranes save backs and still easily handle the heavy lifting of the often delicate electronic and experimental equipment.

A lifting solution is incomplete without a hoist. Each hoist must be carefully matched to the work environment. As such, there is no standard hoist. Many of the options and considerations are covered in the following link. Hoist Selector page.
